How to Know the Truth When You Hear or See It

How to Know the Truth When You Hear or See It
The moment of truth. The truth will set you free. The truth is out there. Truth is stranger than fiction. The truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God. All great quotes from various truth-seekers. So, what exactly is truth? And who holds it?

The various religions throughout the world would have you believe that they hold the truth. That if you believe in what they believe you will be "saved". The kingdom of heaven will be open to you. Go against their beliefs, doctrine or preachings, and you'll find yourself in the pits of fire and brimstone.

If the religions of the world are telling the truth, then we are all doomed, since we all believe something that is against someone elses version of the truth.

And what of "the new age" movement? The new spirituality? These too are now being attacked by naysayers, who cite their own version of the truth.

Typically, we believe in what we believe because we trust someone's version of what truth is. Until we don't. Until that person shows us that they are untrustworthy.

Or much worse, they have the audacity to speak of something that is so far removed from the realm of what we are prepared to believe that we begin to question all of what they've claimed as truth.

Some say that they know the truth because what they're hearing resonates with them. But why does it resonate?

Chances are, it's because they already have some core belief that lines up with what they are hearing. Add to that, others who believe the same and vocalize that belief...well then, it must be truth.

What we see as reality tends to be verified.

Politics is nothing but corruption and cronyism. Religion is there to control the masses. The existence of aliens is all around us. Where we really come from is as an experiment from a much more highly developed race. We've been duped into believing we're free but are actually imprisoned by a reptilian race that are trying to kill us off. If we don't rise up in outrage, or conversely, if we don't embrace love as the answer, we are asleep or unconscious.

In truth, it's hard to know what to believe.

The truth about the truth is that we've come to expect that the truth is all-encompassing. That there is only one truth. But what if we challenge that premise? What if we look at truth with a whole different set of eyes?

What if truth is much like a path? A path that each of us walks, uniquely? What if truth is based on our model of the world? It was Morticia who unemotionally stated: "What is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly." Nourishment and life for the spider. Struggle and death for the fly.

We live in a world of contrast. Contrast that helps us to appreciate and value what we see as the good things in life. And whether or not the truth really is out there as one unifying sweeping certainty, each of us still choose how to interpret it. And then, how we will deal with it. That is the nature of our lives here on this planet.
Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.
